This is Course 2 of Module 3 in the Community Interpreter Core Training Program. This course is designed to provide interpreters with essential knowledge about the domestic violence (DV) court process in Ontario. Its goal is to support interpreters in working accurately and ethically in legal settings involving DV cases. Please note that this course is not intended to train interpreters for legal interpretation in court proceedings, but rather to support their understanding and preparedness for interpreting in contexts related to intimate partner violence cases.

We will cover:

Check markIdentification of the roles of police, Crown attorneys, and victim assistance services in the DV process

Check markApplication of appropriate interpreting strategies in emotionally sensitive                     and  legally complex situations.
