This is the fifth course in Module 2 of the Community Interpreter Core Training Program. This course equips interpreters with foundational knowledge of mental illness and professional strategies for working with clients experiencing mental health challenges. 

We will cover:

Check markCommon mental health conditions, communication patterns, and                     emotional behaviors that may arise in interpreted mental health encounters.                       

Check markProfessional interpreting techniques—including faithful interpretation,  tone matching, and appropriate use of third-person comments—in mental health settings. 

Check markEthical decision-making by maintaining role boundaries, confidentiality,     and professional demeanor when faced with emotional, ambiguous, or challenging situations.
