This is the final course in Module 1 of the Community Interpreter Core Training Program. In this advanced, simulation-based course, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned through realistic practices independently and with a language coach and peers.
Designed for learners who have completed foundational training, this course bridges theory and practice by placing you in lifelike scenarios with breakout room sessions, role rotation, and rubric-based self-evaluation.
We will cover:
Consecutive Interpretation in Professional Contexts
Practice interpreting dialogues across real-life domains like social services, legal, and healthcare. Learn how to manage tone, register, memory, and interruptions.
Sight Translation Practice
Improve fluency and delivery by translating written documents (e.g., Rights and Responsibilities) aloud. Evaluate yourself using a structured rubric.
Simulated Role-Play with Feedback
Work in Zoom breakout rooms with a Language Coach and peer. Alternate roles to gain perspective and practice under supportive supervision.
