This is the seventh course in Module 1 of the Community Interpreter Core Training Program. In this course, learners will explore the practice of sight translation—reading a written text in one language and saying it aloud in another. The course will help interpreters understand when to use sight translation, the skills it requires, and how to handle challenges professionally and ethically.

Explain what sight translation is, its purpose in interpreting, and how it differs from other types of interpretation.
SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES
Identify and develop the core skills needed for effective sight translation, including speaking clearly in the target language and remembering important parts of the text while translating.
CHALLENGES AND GUIDELINES
Recognize common challenges in sight translation and learn how interpreters can handle them while staying accurate, professional, and within their responsibilities.
