This is the sixth course in Module 1 of the Community Interpreter Core Training Program.
In this course, interpreters will learn how to work in community and social service settings like Ontario Works and the Children’s Aid Society. The training will focus on how to stay professional, follow interpreter guidelines, and communicate clearly in different situations.

We will cover:

Check markINTRODUCTION TO COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES

Understand the broader framework of social support systems, the role of interpreters, and why community services are important for helping people with everyday needs.

Check markONTARIO WORKS INTERPRETING

Develop the skills to interpret accurately and professionally in Ontario Works appointments, including understanding its purpose, structure, and key interpreter responsibilities.

Check markCHILDREN’S AID SOCIETY INTERPRETING

Understand how to interpret professionally in Children’s Aid Society (CAS) settings while supporting clear communication and following ethical guidelines.
